Pinknose Craypuppy
A Crayon rocket of slightly different breed...
Since so many have asked for details on how to build the 29mm motor retainer
from plumbing parts, lets start this build by making one.
First get a 1 1/4" sink tailpiece extension and 1 1/4" die cast metal slip joint nut from
the plumbing dept, then grab one 1" e-clip from the hardware dept...

Use a razor saw or your favorite mutilation device, and hack it right
before the little 'transition', to stay with rocketry terms...
Keep the threaded part and discard the rest...

Slide the threaded part on a 29mm motor tube, and install a casing.
I use an old beaten up 29/40-120 casing that had a blowby and I had to
gently persuade to open with a big pair of pliers...

Take the slip joint nut from the baggie, and discard the washer,
then thread it on all the way...
Now you can gently slide the assembly on the tube back and forth.

Make sure your ring is threaded in all the way, and that the motor
tube sits against the rear closure flange by gently tapping on the top.
Mark the motor tube and then pull the assembly off and take it apart.

Scuff up the inside of threaded part with 80 - 100 grit sandpaper, then do the
same on the outside but be careful not to damage the threads. Slide on the motor tube...
BMS tubing is slightly undersize, so I had to wrap a few rounds of 1/4" masking tape
around it for a snug fit. PML tube being thick wall phenolic needs a bit of sanding...

Squeeze equal amounts of JB Weld and mix well until the color is
consistent all thru the batch. Paper plates and popsicle sticks work well.
Wear old clothes, if you make a mess it ain't coming off....

Spread a liberal amount evenly on the tube between the tape rings, better too much
than not enough. When you pull the threaded part down to mark, it'll wipe the
excess off automatic. Bada Bing - what a mess...
